Yesterday evening I had the distinct pleasure of presenting at the Jacksonville SQL Server Users Group on some of the new features of SQL Server 2016. We had delicious pizza, lots of great networking, and a lot of fun talking about SQL Server. The group had a ton of great questions, too! Thank you to everyone that attended the session and thank you to Devin Knight for inviting me to come hang out. It was a blast!

Questions
Q) What about backups?
A) Stretch DB ensures that the remote data stored in Azure is transactional-ly consistent so the database administrator only needs to backup the on-prem data. Upon completion of the local restore, SQL Server reconciles with the remote data using a metadata operation. The good news here is that the time of the restore does not depend on the remote dataset size.
Q) What theme am I using on my blog?
A) The theme is called Twenty Fourteen and it’s pretty popular so you’ve probably seen it all over the place.

Hello Dustin, is the recording for SQL 2016 Rundown on 8/18 available? The content looks awesome, but demo portion is not available.
Hey John, I’m sorry but unfortunately the session was not recorded. The sample code provided in the link, however, is the exact same code I used in the demos so there is some good news.
